Press Release

From 12 to 14 June, on board the air defence frigate Forbin in the Mediterranean sea, the Direction Générale de l'Armement (DGA), the French Navy and CILAS conducted a test campaign for the High energy laser for multiple applications - power power (HELMA-P), an anti-drone laser effector.

Already successfully tested on land in 2020 and 2021, the HELMA-P system has proven to be as effective as it is precise in neutralising hostile drones at sea. These tests open the door to further development of the prototype, with a view to its eventual integration on Navy ships.

These tests are part of the Anti-UAV (LAD) programme led by the DGA, programme, which includes the development of a prototype laser weapon based on the HELMA-P demonstrator.

The integration of drones into operations is a major development in warfare, and in naval combat in particular. At sea, aerial drones can be used to monitor, disrupt or attack ships and aircraft. The Navy is fully involved in the work with the other armed forces and the DGA, with a view to acquiring specific resources. specific resources.
